Drakesville City Council Meeting
June 6, 2019 7:30 PM
Regular City Council meeting was held June 6th, 2019 7:30 PM at City Hall, council person’s present were Sharon Sines, Chris Day, Sharon Roland, Karen Rudd and Mayor Robert Sampson, absent was council person Terry Bradley. Guest present was Rock Johnson, Fire Chief.
Minutes of the May 9th, 2019 council meeting were read by City Clerk Susan Hopkins, Sharon Sines moved the minutes be approved, 2nd by Karen Rudd, motion carried.
Minutes of the June 2nd, 2019 Park Board meeting were read by City Clerk Susan Hopkins, Chris Day moved the minutes be approved, 2nd by Karen Rudd, motion carried.
Financial report was presented to the council, Chris Day moved the report be approved 2nd by Sharon Sines, motion carried.
Rock Johnson gave Fire Dept report stating the generator has been installed. Reported they are having problems with the lights at the Fire Station he would like to start replacing them with LED lights, Mayor Sampson advised he would get estimates for 8 ft LED, Rock Johnson will get prices from Menards. Council spoke with Rock Johnson about burning two brush piles at the City Park, Fire Dept will take care of these during one of their training; Rock Johnson will also contact the Park about cleaning out the gutters and advised they would power wash City Hall.
Mayor Robert Sampson gave road report advising he had contacted Norris and WinCore about the streets they are both supposed to get back to him, he did tell them he needed this by June 13th, discussion was held about Chestnut and Polk Streets, issue with an alley entrance and residents who are continually blocking an alley were also discussed. City will put gravel on E Chestnut, W Chestnut needs to have chip and seal torn up, gravel will go on Polk St., and Sheriff will be contacted about blocked alley.
Dead trees on vacant property on N Jefferson were discussed, limbs are falling into the street threatening people and property, Sharon Sines moved a letter giving property owner 30 days to remove dead trees be sent, 2nd by Karen Rudd, motion carried. Also property on N Madison also has dead trees although no limbs have fallen into street yet, Mayor Robert Sampson will speak to the property owner.
Quik Time Cigarette permit is up for renewal, Karen Rudd moved the permit be approved, 2nd by Chris Day, motion carried.
City Clerk Susan Hopkins reported a 2nd notice had been sent to dog owners still have four dog owners that have not complied, late fees are now in effect. Mayor Robert Sampson will speak to these dog owners if they still do not comply certified letters will be sent before being turned over to the city attorney.
Employee handbook was approved by the council.
Next regular meeting will be held Tuesday July 2nd, 2019 7:30 PM because of the July 4th holiday, Sharon Roland moved the meeting be adjourned, 2nd by Sharon Sines, motion carried, meeting adjourned at 8:39 PM
